The trend towards an eco-friendly lifestyle has moved into the world of furniture, according to experts.
Home builders, designers and furniture manufacturers are some of the latest recruits to the green school of thought.
The vice president of the US home furnishing alliance puts forward the idea that it is now easier to decorate a home, office or garden with recycled materials that are "beautiful and stylish" as well as environmentally-friendly.
Speaking to the Arizona Daily Star, Jackie Hirschhaut commented: "A wide variety of eco-friendly furnishings will be available to consumers this summer and early fall".
The paper points out that the involvement of celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz as well as former vice president Al Gore, has made going green "the in thing".
Designer Candice Olson is said to have teamed up with Norwalk furniture company in the US to create a chair made with soy-based foam, water-based glues and recycled wire, steel and cardboard.
Earlier this month American entrepreneur Mark Macheca highlighted the growth in people's interest in environmentally-friendly furniture for their homes and offices.
Examples of products he outlined included work surfaces made from compressed sunflower seeds and chair fabrics made from cornstalks.
