Pine furniture - one BIG sofa

Staff at a furniture workshop in Bolton recently had to deal with a rather unusual request.

Workers at Churchill Reproductions were shocked when they received an order for a 20 foot, 12-seat, shocking pink Chesterfield sofa.

Martyn Drakley, production manager for the firm, told the Bolton News: "To be honest, I thought it was a joke at first.

"I've never heard of a settee this big before. The frame-maker had a nightmare because of the way it was designed.

"We put the foam up and then one lad buttoned it all - it took him over a week."

Eventually, the sofa was safely delivered to its new owner - furniture supplier Estilda - in Holland.

Paddy McAfee, managing director of Churchill Reproductions, added: "We'll have a go at any oddball task. We're delighted to get the orders."
